Using ABS survey materials

Guidance and conditions of use of ABS survey materials in campaigns

Requests for the use of Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey materials in third party campaigns should be submitted to the ABS. The provision or use of ABS materials for campaign purposes does not imply and cannot be presented in any way as any endorsement by the ABS of that campaign.
Survey materials be must not be altered or adjusted in any way (i.e. do not make the Yes or No words or box sizes bigger, change colours, add words or additional instructions, etc.). 

The ABS logo on materials should not be shown or appear in campaign material and must be obscured (i.e. hidden by thumb, hand, other material like mail, etc.). 
The addressee's details (name and address) and any barcodes on the materials should be obscured/pixilated and not clearly shown.

When showing the survey form:  

  • only show a person using a dark pen (preferably black) and definitely not glitter or other extraneous material  
  • only ONE box must be marked  
  • the one box chosen to be marked can be marked in any way (i.e. tick, cross, colouring in, line through, etc.) 
  • do not show the bottom of the form in close up or detail - specifically from the point: A response may be not be valid and the instructional information on the bottom of the form. 

When talking about return of the surveys forms, please urge participants to return their form straight away.
The files must only be provided to those who require them to create the advertising and cannot be distributed to others by email or other means. Third party suppliers used in the production of campaign advertising and materials must also abide by these conditions of use.

The final advertising materials with a contact name and number must be provided to the ABS prior to Commercials Advice (CAD) approval (TVC) and lodgement (for other mediums).
